Use: Green Thatch palms are very good looking small-headed palms typically used in groups in the landscape. Native to Florida, these palms are often seen in forest or coastal situations in full sun or partial shade, these small palms bring a tropical look to gardens.

Characteristics: Known for its durable and tough nature, these pretty small scale leaved palms can reach 20' tall and 8' feet wide over time. They prefer sandy soils and are fairly quick growing. They are not cold tolerant, and will get damaged or die in a freeze.

Trimming: Green Thatch palms need pruning after their fronds brown out. Since they grow fairly slowly, this may only need to be done a few times a year.

Fertilization/Pests: Fertilize in March, June and October with a well-balanced, granular Palm fertilizer.
