Use: Crotons are used as spectacular accents or groupings in the semi-shady landscape. Their incredible range of colors and textures are dramatic, and can create memorable tropical gardens areas.
Characteristics: Crotons are an evergreen shrub which top out at 8 feet in height and prefer partial shade and fertile soil to look their best.
Trimming: Selective pruning every 6 months to be maintained at 4’-6' in height.
Sometimes a hard cut back is needed to create a fuller plant.
Fertilization/Pests: Hardy plant that requires a balanced fertilizer 3 times per year. A very difficult scale pest called Croton scale can also infest this plant. If seen, apply Horticultural oil, or contact your professional Pest control company.
