Asparagus densiflorus "Foxtail Fern"

Use: Low growing bedding plant or small accent piece.

Characteristics: Foxtail Ferns are lime green in color and can live anywhere from full sun to medium shade. Leaves are conically shaped and offer an unusual texture to the landscape.

Trimming: No formal trimming is needed. NO SHEARING, EVER. Hand prune as needed to remove any dead stems at the base to keep plants looking their best. If Foxtail Ferns start to encroach on a path or walkway, trim off the invading leaves with a hand pruner at the base of the plant.

Fertilization: Milorganite is best for Foxtail Ferns. Palm fertilizer can burn them, so be careful of this when fertilizing other plant material around Foxtail Ferns. Apply Milorganite three times per year, as close to March, June and October as possible, but timing of fertilizer is not critical.
