Ficus Microcarpa/Green Island Ficus

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

NICELY PRUNED GREEN ISLAND FICUS

Use: Thick and durable evergreen hedge. Can be used in formal applications and can easily be shaped for almost any shrub related circumstance. Very useful for any seaside or low maintenance landscaping.

Trimming: Green Island Ficus will tolerate shearing every month, but that is not what is best for the plant. Optimally, pruning should be done every other month. Selective hand pruning can be used anytime to keep this shrub in bounds.

Fertilization: Though not particularly fertilizer hungry, Green Island Ficus will benefit from a well-balanced, time-released fertilizer with minor elements applied in the March, June and October to coincide with trimmings. This will help keep plants full to the base.
